Having been contacted by Downlands School, on Blandford Camp, regarding their tired and outdated projector and audio equipment the Team went for a site visit.

An extremely dated system was in place. Four unbranded speakers, a projector so old you are no longer able to purchase bulbs for it. A peavey mixer and an amplifier with several channels not working.

What they needed was a sleek up to date system, user friendly, all on a tight time frame and even tighter budget.

The team at Bassline Beats Productions put their heads together for a good solution.

Our vision with this project was to install a highly simplified and intuitive AV System, while offering the best return on their investment. We predicted this system would easily meet their requirements for the next 10-15 years.

Their existing rack was an old, big, heavy, not doing the required job, and in the reach of the pupils. Our idea was to install a 9U rack with everything that was required for the AV housed inside. The entire AV system would be turned on via a single switch on a power conditioner. This ensured simplicity whilst also providing breaker protection on the AV.

The rack we provided is completely lockable and incredibly sturdy. Ensuring when sports are played in the hall, should any balls hit the rack, it won’t cause any problems.During our site visit one of the things that really stood out to us was the speaker positioning. With their old positioning there was a high possibility for issues. The speakers previously pointed towards the wall, which exaggerated the rooms natural reflections. Our solution to this issue was to move both the left and right speakers. To prevent any risk of the speakers getting damaged during sports activities, our in house team fabricated a mesh cage around them. This way you can get the best of both worlds, ensuring really good audio quality whilst protecting their investment.

As budget was a big issue we looked around for an ex-hire, barely used, high quality projector. It really is about who you know in this industry. We came up trumps and sourced a Panasonic pre loved and well looked after projector.
There are two bulbs in the projector, they run simultaneously, at 50% power each. Therefore, should one bulb go down, the other will go immediately to full power to compensate. This projector was previously owned by a Corporate Company that has maintained and serviced this equipment. This projector has currently been used for a total of eight hours.

Work had to be carried out during school hours. We also had to work around Assembly’s and Lunch Time periods when the hall would need to be used.

Tight time frames, even tighter working conditions. When not working we had to ensure the hall was usable for the Primary Age School Children to use safely.

Thankfully, due to good planning and a great team we did it.

Downlands School now has a newly installed system, end of term celebrations and events can go ahead with a great system in place.
